From October 19 to 22, the 28th Macau International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) was held at the Venetian Macao Cotai Expo. With the theme “More than Business", this exhibition focused on key industries such as cross-border e-commerce, high-tech, and modern finance. It aimed to provide a platform for business and trade services, facilitate the active integration of enterprises into the Greater Bay Area, participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote industrial transformation and upgrading. Mr. Michael Cheung, the consultant representative of the Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA) and Head of Cyber Security Operations of Watsons Group, was invited to attend the exhibition to understand the latest developments in the integration and development of Macao and share his experience and insights from the perspective of network security.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Fan Shijie, representative of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Head of the Department of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs, delivered a speech. He expressed support for the construction of Macao as a platform between China and Portugal and outlined three directions for future work. Firstly, to encourage joint participation in the “Belt and Road” Initiative and create new opportunities for co-operation between the two sides. Secondly, to raise the level of trade and investment to foster new drivers of economic growth. Lastly, to leverage the role of Macao as a platform and elevate their co-operation to a new level.
Mr. Lei Wai Nong, Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Government, delivered a speech at the exhibition. He emphasized that Macao will continue to position itself as "One Center, One Platform, and One Base”, pro-actively seize major opportunities brought about by the construction of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, play a bridging role in the new development pattern of the national "dual circulation", and establish a new pattern of Macao-Hengqin synergetic industrial development featuring “Macao Platform + International Resources + Hengqin Space + Results Sharing”, and inject certainty, stability, and positive energy into China-Portugal economic and trade cooperation and the construction of the China-Portugal platform.
In the future, the HKCNSA will continue to serve as a communication bridge in the field of network security, promote cooperation and development in network security, and jointly safeguard the security and stability of cyberspace, contributing to the development of the network security industry.
