HKCNSA Collaborates with DPO: Discussing Cybersecurity Protection and Development

On December 23, 2024, the Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA) held a meeting with the Hong Kong Digital Policy Office (DPO). The attendees included Mr. Daniel Cheung, Deputy Commissioner (Digital Infrastructure) of the DPO, Ms. Candy Chan, Assistant Commissioner (Project Governance and Cybersecurity), and Mr. Michael Chan, Chief Systems Manager (Project Governance and Cybersecurity). The association was led by Mr. David Ip, the founding chairman of the HKCNSA, along with several vice presidents and committee members.

During the meeting, both parties analyzed the current cybersecurity landscape and discussed strategies to further enhance protection capabilities. The DPO highly commended HKCNSA's efforts and contributions in 2024 towards improving cybersecurity across various industries. They also recognized the achievements in promoting industry communication and collaboration, as well as raising public awareness of cybersecurity.
The DPO proposed specific areas for collaboration, including cyber defense exercises and cross-border data flow in the Greater Bay Area. The aim of conducting cyber defense exercises is to enhance the industry's technical skills, experience, and defense capabilities against cyber attacks. Regarding cross-border data flow in the Greater Bay Area, the DPO encouraged the association to take a leading role in promoting secure and efficient data flow, emphasizing the importance of this initiative. They also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in policy research, technical standards development, and data security protection, exploring new models and pathways.
This meeting laid a solid foundation for future cooperation. Both parties believe that by strengthening collaboration, they can more effectively address cybersecurity challenges and enhance industry protection standards. Moving forward, the HKCNSA will continue to leverage its professional expertise to promote cyber defense exercises, facilitate cross-border data flow in the Greater Bay Area, and cultivate more cybersecurity talent, jointly advancing the development of the cybersecurity industry.
