HKCNSA Executive Dinner Successfully Held, Exploring AI Governance and Enterprise AI Risks

On 26 August 2026, the Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA), with the support of Akamai, hosted our first HKCNSA Executive Dinner at Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui. Under the theme “4 Elements: Journey Through the Senses,” the event brought together HKCNSA members and industry leaders for an evening of knowledge sharing and networking, focusing on AI governance, enterprise AI risks, and data security management.
The evening began with welcome remarks by Mr. David Ip, Founding Chairman of HKCNSA. He welcomed members and industry guests to the dinner and expressed his appreciation to Akamai for supporting the event. He noted the Association’s commitment to fostering industry exchange and collaboration, and highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for executives and cybersecurity professionals from different sectors to connect, exchange ideas, and share experiences in an informal setting.
Inspired by the theme “4 Elements: Journey Through the Senses,” the event combined an immersive dining experience with meaningful industry exchange, creating an engaging platform beyond a traditional conference environment. Just as earth, water, fire, and air must achieve harmony, effective data privacy and cybersecurity rely on the alignment of technology, governance, and risk management. Bringing together professionals from cybersecurity, data privacy, and enterprise leadership, the evening encouraged the sharing of perspectives and practical experience, while fostering new ideas and deeper cross-sector collaboration in the AI era.
The keynote session was delivered by Mr. Eric Lai, Regional Manager, Hong Kong and Macau, Akamai, under the theme “Governing the Interaction Layer: Securing AI at the Point of Intent.”
Mr. Lai noted that generative AI has become increasingly integrated into daily business operations. Beyond the risks associated with AI models themselves, organizations must also understand how employees interact with AI tools and manage the related data access and usage risks. He highlighted common challenges associated with AI adoption, including Shadow AI, the use of personal AI accounts (BYOAI), the submission of sensitive information to third-party AI platforms, and inadequate access controls.
The presentation also explored how organizations can establish stronger AI usage governance frameworks, including gaining visibility into employee use of AI tools, implementing data classification and access management mechanisms, and reducing the risk of data leakage through continuous monitoring and real-time controls. Mr. Lai shared Akamai’s observations on AI visibility, risk analysis, and policy enforcement, emphasizing the need to strike a balance between innovation and governance to ensure the secure adoption of AI technologies.
During the networking dinner, guests from the finance, technology, cybersecurity, and enterprise management sectors exchanged views on AI governance, data protection, and digital transformation. Participants shared practical experiences from their AI adoption journeys and discussed governance frameworks, compliance considerations, and future development trends.

The Executive Dinner enhanced industry understanding of AI governance, enterprise AI risks, and data security management, while fostering greater exchange and collaboration across different sectors.
