HKCNSA Data Privacy Committee Workshop Successfully Held, Focusing on Data-Driven Privacy Governance and Compliance in Practice
On 8 October 2026, the HKCNSA Data Privacy Committee hosted the “Data-Driven Privacy Governance and Compliance” Workshop at the Bird & Bird Hong Kong office, with venue support from Bird & Bird and refreshments kindly provided by Everpure. The event brought together professionals from the fields of privacy, data governance, compliance, financial services, asset management, insurance, retail, legal services, and technology to exchange views on data governance, cross-border data flows, AI governance, and regulatory developments across the Asia-Pacific region.

The event opened with welcome remarks by Mr. David Ip, Founding Chairman of HKCNSA, and Mr. Wilfred Ng, Partner at Bird & Bird. The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Veronica Wang, Director of the HKCNSA Data Privacy Committee. Conducted in a roundtable format under the Chatham House Rule, the session encouraged participants to engage in open discussions on practical business scenarios and topics of industry concern.

During the “Privacy Leaders Roundtable” session, participants exchanged views on common challenges in enterprise data governance frameworks, ownership and accountability for data governance, cross-border data transfer arrangements, AI accountability, and emerging privacy regulatory trends in the Asia-Pacific region. Discussions also covered practical considerations in implementing data governance programmes, as well as collaboration between privacy, legal, compliance, information security, and business functions.

The workshop also featured the interactive “Privacy Leadership Challenge Cards” session, where participants were divided into groups to discuss topics including AI Governance, Strategy & Governance, Operating Model, and Leadership & Future. Through case sharing and peer discussions, participants explored issues relating to privacy governance, AI governance, and organisational operating models, while exchanging observations and experiences from their day-to-day work.

The event concluded with an Open Discussion & Key Takeaways session, providing participants with an opportunity to further exchange perspectives and share experiences. The workshop served as a platform for privacy, legal, compliance, and cybersecurity professionals from different industries to connect, exchange knowledge, and strengthen professional networks.

HKCNSA would like to express its sincere appreciation to Bird & Bird for its support of the event and to Everpure for its sponsorship. The Association will continue to organise activities through its Data Privacy Committee to facilitate discussions on data governance, privacy protection, and related regulatory developments, while promoting knowledge sharing and industry exchange.
