The Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA) is proud to feature Mr. Rocky Li as our Member of the Month. As the Founder of Terracotta and an HKCNSA Ambassador, Rocky has played a key role in establishing Hong Kong’s first applied AI lab and offering unique insights at the convergence of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
Building Connections and Giving Back with HKCNSA
"Cybersecurity has always been a personal passion of mine," Rocky reflects. "Before joining HKCNSA, it was mostly something I explored on my own." He emphasizes that Hong Kong lacks spaces for security professionals to connect, and HKCNSA fills that gap by bringing together industry, academia, and government.
"Since joining, I’ve had the chance to meet professionals across sectors, exchange ideas, and even visit security vendors in Hong Kong and Mainland China to understand market dynamics."
Beyond professional growth, Rocky actively participates in community initiatives, from serving meals to those in need to running cybersecurity awareness workshops for secondary school students. "Giving back has been one of the most meaningful parts of membership."
AI and Cybersecurity: A Converging Future
Rocky believes AI is not separate from cybersecurity—they’re very much related. "AI represents a generational shift that’s reshaping many industries, including security itself. I felt I needed to understand it deeply, not just observe from the sidelines."
He notes that AI lowers the barrier for attackers, enabling large-scale campaigns with minimal technical skill. Hyper-personalized phishing and deepfake media are creating new risks for social engineering and fraud.
On the defensive side, AI offers transformative potential: scalable detection and response, helping make advanced security capabilities more accessible to organizations of different sizes, and automating tasks that often overwhelm security teams, such as reporting and compliance tracking. Rocky adds that AI can also bridge communication gaps between technical teams and business leaders, translating risk into actionable insights.

Looking Ahead: AI Guardians and Quantum Challenges
Rocky envisions a future where AI-powered security assistants become widely available has an AI "cyber guardian angel"—an intelligent system providing real-time monitoring and defense for both individuals and organizations.
He also highlights the need to prepare for quantum computing by adopting hybrid encryption strategies to protect today’s data from future threats.
Additionally, AI’s ability to break language barriers will redefine global business expansion, reducing the need for large localization teams. "On a broader scale, I look forward to seeing humanoid robotics deployed and its potential to create genuine abundance for society."
