HKCNSA Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Hong Kong Metropolitan University

On 13 March 2026, the Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA) and Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a long term collaboration framework in the areas of cybersecurity talent development and education. The partnership aims to strengthen engagement between academia and the industry through knowledge exchange, talent cultivation and industry awareness, providing students with greater exposure to practical perspectives and career pathways in the cybersecurity field.

The MOU signing ceremony was attended by Mr. David Ip, Founding Chairman of HKCNSA, and Dr. Barry Wong, Director of the Talent Development and Education Committee, who represented the Association at the event. During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on current trends in cybersecurity talent demand and discussed how education and practical application can be better aligned to support the sector’s development. The Memorandum of Understanding serves as a foundation for advancing future collaborative initiatives.

Hong Kong Metropolitan University, as one of Hong Kong’s established higher education institutions, places strong emphasis on applied and professional oriented education. In science and technology related disciplines, the University has been actively advancing talent development in areas such as information technology, computing and digital technologies. Through curriculum design, experiential learning and external partnerships, HKMU seeks to equip students with competencies that align with real world professional environments and evolving industry needs.

Under the framework of the MOU, HKCNSA and HKMU will continue to explore directions for talent and education collaboration. These include potential initiatives to enhance students’ understanding of the cybersecurity profession, strengthen career readiness and promote academia industry linkages through industry sharing sessions, thematic exchanges and other collaborative formats. Such efforts aim to provide a structured platform for future cooperation.
