HKCNSA Founding Chairman Shares Expert View on Major Cyberattack Affecting Kuaishou’s LiveStreaming Platform

The Hong Kong China Network Security Association (HKCNSA) has issued a professional summary regarding a recent major cybersecurity incident at Chinese shortvideo platform Kuaishou. According to reporting by the South China Morning Post, Kuaishou was hit by a largescale cyberattack on Monday night, during which explicit content flooded multiple hightraffic livestreaming rooms for over an hour. Some compromised rooms saw viewership surge to more than 50,000 before the platform initiated emergency shutdown and began deleting the illicit content. Service gradually resumed around 2am on Tuesday.

HKCNSA founding chairman Mr. David Ip commented that the incident demonstrates clear gaps in Kuaishou’s threat intelligence and detection capabilities. With artificial intelligence lowering the barriers for mass account compromise, he emphasized the need for the platform to conduct a comprehensive security audit—covering infrastructure, application layers, and data protection mechanisms—to strengthen resilience against similar attacks.

Other cybersecurity experts cited in the report stressed that the breach serves as a significant warning for the industry, underscoring that cybersecurity has become an essential pillar for longterm business viability. HKCNSA encourages local enterprises to reinforce monitoring systems, enhance defense strategies, and stay vigilant against escalating automated cyber threats.
